Checking Hand
History
To some this is old news, but to new online poker players, this is huge information
potential. The hand history log is stored data that some online
poker rooms file to keep track of all hands that have been played, and what each player had.
You can even see what your opponents hand was even if they mucked it. If you are going to be playing a tournament for two or three hours, you
better know how they are playing. It also becomes handy when you
are taking notes on players. Some poker sites even have a video
play back option, so you can view previous hands from start to finish.
How to Check History
A way you can do this is through your hand history log. Most sites offer this feature, and it’s a huge help
for players. When a player loses a hand they have the option to muck it. This means their hand won’t be
displayed on the computer screen if they lost.
What many don’t know is that you can still check what they had the last hand. What you do is look up in the
upper right hand corner of the screen where it says “last hand”. Some online poker rooms name the “hand
history” different, and you can check any hand that you have played. This becomes a valuable tool for
tracking opponents and their play.
What Sites Offer It
Not every online poker room will offer a hand history log. Sometimes
you have to request the log through email. If a player folds in the
hand, you will not be able to see what they had. The only time you can
view what they were holding is if they call, or get called in the hand.
You can muck your hand and not allow other players to see if you know you were beat. Most online poker rooms will allow you to view this hand history
log. It becomes a very important tool, so check next time you
are playing at your chosen poker site.
